Copyright Introduction

Having worked in information technology, and especially within a training role, I actually have a great deal of experience understanding copyright.  We are always making sure that we do not use anything in our training materials that is not licensed for re-use.  Additionally, software licensing is always foremost within our  minds when dealing with information security.  I'm also married to an attorney, so, frighteningly, the topic of fair use and copyright is often a topic of evening conversation. New to me is the concept of libraries and special permissions for libraries for preserving and distributing materials.  I never thought about how librarians would provide alternate formats for people with disabilities, and that librarians would need to understand their permissions to do so within the copyright laws.

Towards the end of the lecture, it froze on me and I'm not sure if I was able to view the entire presentation. Does it end on the slide discussing the complexity of copywright and case law?

A Quick Introduction

After spending the last two decades working in corporate America, I've decided to pursue a new field merging together my passions:  books, information, technology and teaching.  Over the course of my career in IT, my positions have always included some component of teaching adults.  Moving into a field that leverages my skillset and experience, while letting me work with kids is a natural progression for me, and one I hope to enjoy!

I graduated with my Bachelor's in English from Arizona State University and I'm living proof you can employ an English major out of college.  Quite well as a matter of fact!  I currently work in Information Security with a focus on Training and Awareness.

I am taking the program with initial licensure and this is my first class within the program.  I have 3 boys - 3 1/2, 7 1/2 and a husband.  They keep me busy - so it will be an interesting adventure to learn to balance school, family and work!
